Martin I. Ritter’s work spans more than four decades across the international musical instrument sector and related creative fields. His activities have included product development, brand authorship, manufacturing collaboration, international market structures, and long-term design projects.

Originally educated in classical piano as well as church and jazz organ, his early formation was rooted in music before his professional path expanded into the industrial and commercial environment of the musical instrument industry. Over time this developed into a body of work combining entrepreneurship, product design, and international market activity across multiple countries.

In 1996 he founded an eponymous instrument bag brand that altered the design language of musical instrument protection worldwide. The work introduced authored identity and product culture into a field previously dominated by purely functional equipment.

Across the decades that followed, this activity expanded into a portfolio of brands, companies, and product concepts spanning instrument protection, heritage guitar development, outdoor equipment, consultancy, and international market platforms.

Music

Music has remained a constant throughout Martin I. Ritter’s life.

Educated in classical piano as well as church and jazz organ, his musical work has centred on study, composition, and conceptual exploration rather than public performance.

Current activity includes piano practice, compositional work, and sound art installations.

FOHNIKK

FOHNIKK is an educational music system developed by Martin I. Ritter following the loss of vision and the interruption of previously internalised theoretical musical knowledge.

The system establishes a structured musical environment in which beginners approach sound through listening, repetition, and perceptual orientation rather than through theoretical abstraction.

Its purpose is pedagogical: to cultivate musical awareness and instrumental agency through controlled interaction with sound.

OSENTIUM

OSENTIUM designates the artistic framework through which Martin I. Ritter develops work across sound, image, and text.

Following the loss of vision, this practice has sharpened around structure, memory, and the disciplined construction of perception through non-visual means. OSENTIUM describes the condition in which this work is developed: a controlled field sustained over time and encountered by invitation only.

Sound art installations, writing, and conceptual work are situated within this framework.
